CH20 Elbow chair - des. Hans Wegner - made by Carl Hansen

CH20 Elbow chair in lacquered oak with Loke 7050 leather upholstery.

Hans J. Wegner designed the stackable Elbow Chair in 1956. After crafting two prototypes, he set the production-intensive chair design aside in his archives, where it remained for nearly half a century until it was brought back to life in 2005. The steam bent single piece backrest offers elbow support and a range of sitting positions.

About the designer

Among Danish furniture designers, Hans J. Wegner is considered one of the most creative, innovative and prolific. Often referred to as the master of the chair, Wegner created almost 500 chairs in his lifetime – many of them considered masterpieces. He is probably best known for his iconic Wishbone Chair which has been in continuous production since 1950. The core of Wegner’s legacy is his focus on showing the inner soul of furniture pieces through a simple and functional exterior.
